Ephemeral New York City

All over the city, we can still found theses 19th century cast iron manhole covers that once opened into utility holes or coal chutes.
Many survives to this day, here is a few i spotted in Brooklyn and wanted to share .
Some are very decorative and inventive it's like finding a treasure every time I step on one of these !! I love it and it make me smile !!
